Where Do The Sandwiches Go?

projectbethegood

In the past 22 months you’ve made and delivered more than 83,000 sandwiches — an astounding number!

So… where do they go?

Every sandwich you make reaches our neighbors in Washington, D.C. who are experiencing hunger and homelessness.

This happens through your generosity and some beautiful partnerships.

In July 2020, Martha‘s Table told us they were running a daily deficit on sandwiches for McKenna’s Wagon, their mobile distribution in Washington, D.C. We grabbed some supplies and put the word out to you about this need.

Nearly every week since that call, you’ve stepped up to help fill the gap.

Hundreds of volunteers—including families, scout troops, youth teams, students, faith groups, neighbors, pods, and generous people of all ages and walks of life—arrive almost every weekend with sandwiches in Alexandria, Va.

We then refrigerate the sandwiches and transport them to Martha’s Table in Anacostia, where they are sorted and bagged with more food and distributed on McKenna’s Wagon 365 days a year.

Every PB&J and turkey with cheese is an act of loving your neighbors through this beautiful grassroots movement and partnership with Martha’s Table.
