Little Free Food Pantries are small units that look like "neighborhood libraries" and are often stationed outside in areas where there is a walkable need for food.
Since 2021, Be The Good has placed two dozen Little Free Food Pantries across Northern Virginia in Alexandria, Springfield, Annandale, and Falls Church. These mint and periwinkle boxes are filled weekly by generous Be The Good volunteers, who stock the boxes with unexpired, non-perishable food.
Each Be The Good Little Free Food Pantry has a simple message: "take what you need, leave what you can."
The Little Free Food Pantries offer a discreet way for neighbors who are experiencing hunger and food insecurity to access emergency resources with dignity, and they serve an important purpose on holidays and evenings when traditional food pantries may be closed.
