School's Out For Summer

It has been an eventful first half of 2022 behind the scenes at Be The Good Project!

Not only have our volunteers made thousands of sandwiches for the homeless in Washington, DC weekly, but you've also checked on and filled up Little Free Food Pantries across the DMV each weekend.

We're also working hard to forge new strategic partnerships to help reach more families who need supplemental groceries in our region.

Unfortunately, summertime is one of the hungriest times of the year for many children and families.

According to No Hungry Kid, “the national summer meals programs reaches just 16 percent of the children who need help when school is out of session.” And more than two years into the pandemic, the challenges facing food insecure families are once again worsening due to the expiration of federal assistance and skyrocketing food and gas prices.

We know a small box or a single program can’t solve all the food security problems in our community, but your continued generosity provides our neighbors with food in communities across the DMV with discretion and dignity — including after school, on weekends, and over school breaks.
